Tap Kit for #4-40 screws / Tap + #43 drill bit in protective Tube This kit is intended for Railroad Modelers The kit includes a 3-flute #4-40 tap and #43 High-Speed Steel drill bit. Both are included in a small plastic tube with a press-fit lid. The tube is approximately 7/16 ths diameter and 3 5/16 ths long with the lid. CAUTION: Cutting tools are brittle; ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION ! No instruction sheet is included. I will tell you here if you are putting a machine screw into a plastic material (passenger car floor) refrain from tapping the hole 100%. Tap only about 50% of the hole. The tap will need exit the back side of the object, but model plastics are relatively soft. If you tap the hole 100% you radically increase the probability that the screw will come loose or need tightening. If you have some threads at the bottom of the hole that are not 100%, the screw will deform the plastic to make threads, but the screw will remain tight. (Think of the common truck retaining screw which goes into an un-tapped hole). I attempt to provide the most accurate description possible. My intention is to prevent any surprises.
